Christmas at the ‘last house standing’
The streets are dark and the town of Gilchrist, Texas, is deserted. But Pam and Warren Adams still put up Christmas lights outside their home, one of the few left standing after Hurricane Ike devastated the area in September. The couple is trying to repair their battered home. “I want everything back the way it was,” Pam Adams said. “I want my neighbors back.”
