Hector Rodriguez removed from IAD
President Leonel Fernandez has appointed controversial Hector Rodriguez Pimentel as a secretary without portfolio. Hotoniel Bonilla, director of the government anti-corruption department, has described Rodriguez as “pathologically corrupt.”
Rodriguez is currently dedicated to promoting President Fernandez’s candidacy for the 2012 presidential election, despite a ban on consecutive reelection in the 2010 Constitution. He recently announced that the campaign required the opening of 35 stations nationwide.
Rodriguez is a close political aide of Fernandez, and campaigned intensively with him in the 2010 congressional campaign.
