Motorcycles in 80% of road accidents
Speaking at the start of a postgraduate course in orthopedics and trauma at the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces, orthopedic surgeon Rafael Camilo, president of the Dominican Society of Orthopedics & Traumatology, said that vehicle accidents are the cause of 80% of the 200 daily emergencies they treat at the hospital. Of these 80% are caused by motorcyclists, he said. He highlighted the importance of motorcyclists using adequate helmets.
