RNC elects first African-American leader
The Republican National Committee today elected former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele as its new chairman. Steele, the first African-American to hold the post, defeated South Carolina GOP Chairman Katon Dawson 91-77 in the final round of voting among the RNC’s 168 members. “It’s time for something completely different,” Steele said in his acceptance speech.div class=”feedflare”
