Suit seeks to nullify same-sex marriages
Sponsors of a California ballot measure that banned same-sex marriage are seeking to nullify thousands of marriages performed between gay and lesbian couples. Proposition 8 amended the state constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman. Opponents argue that the amendment cannot be applied retroactively.
