Three held in Botanical Gardens murder
The National Police have detained three people in connection with the murder of Dr Sergio Rafael Rojas Soriano near Santo Domingo’s Botanical Gardens earlier this week. A source close to the investigations confirmed that they were being held “for questioning”, adding that they were friends of the people on four motorcycles who committed the crime.
The investigators believe that the killers are “common criminals” who tried to rob the doctor but that he was armed and had resisted.
However, based on the way in which the event happened with an accurate shot at close range, there has been speculation that they were hit men pursuing a specific target.
