Another drug scandal
The latest in a long series of scandals involving insiders at the service of drug trafficking is the case of an employee of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) who was caught selling drugs that had previously been confiscated.
The Prosecutor General has asked for the arrest of laboratory assistant Andy Wilman Alcantara Morillo, who acting in complicity with Ruddy Argenis Romero Aquino, removed drugs from the store at the institution and replaced them with fake drugs provided by Romero that were sent to the National Drug Control Department. An undercover agent, authorized by a judge, bought two kilos of cocaine off Alcantara Morillo for RD$600,000 in marked bills. Part of the money was found when his home was searched.
