Man kills 1, wounds 4 at church, officials say
Five people were shot during a morning church service today in Maryville, Illinois, before worshippers overpowered the gunman, a police dispatcher said. At least one person is dead, a St. Louis hospital official told CNN. The church’s pastor was shot at least three times, while the suspect was stabbed by parishioners who wrestled him to the ground, the dispatcher said.
