Tense start on Wall Street
U.S. stocks opened with a sharp drop, then appeared to struggle for direction after the early morning announcement of emergency interest rate cuts by the Fed and central banks around the world, CNNMoney reports. The Dow plunged more than 200 points shortly after the opening bell, then bounced around.
